Alicia Jones

Alicia Jones is the current Principal at Robert L. Bailey Elementary School. She's been with the Providence Public School District (PPSD) for the past 31 years, the past 18 years as Principal. She began her tenure in PPSD student teaching at William D'Abate Elementary School in 1992. Alicia served as an elementary school teacher, and then became the Assistant Principal of Asa Messer Elementary School in 2003. She then transitioned to Webster Avenue Elementary School in 2006 and served as the Prinicpal there, before coming to Bailey Elementary in 2020.

Alicia earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Social Science from Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. She then went on to receive her Master's in Education in School Counseling from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, and earned a second Master's in Education in School Administration from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. She is also a graduate of PPSD's Aspiring Principals' Program and is National Institute of School Leadership Certified.

After leading the charge to bring Bailey's accountability rating from one star to three stars, Alicia's vision for the school is to continue to improve academic outcomes for students by accelerating their learning and closing achievement gaps. In order to improve academic outcomes, teachers and staff will continue to address the social emotional needs of the students as well as to further engage families and partners as valuable stakeholders in the school community.
