James Tennett is the current Principal at West Broadway Middle School. He has been working in education for 10 years, all with the Providence Public School District (PPSD). Before becoming Principal at West Broadway in 2023, James spent five years in administration at three PPSD elementary schools: Veazie Street Elementary School, Asa Messer Elementary School, and William D'Abate Elementary School. 

Prior to coming to PPSD, James worked at United Printing as a manager in the graphic arts department for 28 years. James earned his Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island, and he received his Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. 

His vision for West Broadway Middle School for the upcoming year is twofold: to create a climate and culture that is conducive to education and is inclusive of and to all people; and to create a data-driven school, one in which data drives instruction to ultimately maximize student outcomes.
