Why Theatre?

  • Engaging in Theater Education has been shown to improve reading comprehension, memorization, and academic performance as well as boost self-esteem, increase motivation and teach youth how to collaborate with peers and adults. Being involved in Theater Education also teaches youth important life skills such as responsibility, dedication and communication, just to name a few. Empathy is also an important component of theater education as it helps students see and/or perform characters from different walks of life and time periods and understand others through a unique lens.
