Gail DeCecco

Gail DeCecco was appointed Principal of Central High School in August 2024. She has been working in education for 15 years, the majority with the Providence Public School District (PPSD). 

From 2008-2019, she served as an ELA teacher, department leader, instructional coach, and administrator in PPSD. Ms. DeCecco served as a school administrator in Massachusetts from 2019-2023. Most recently, she served as an Assistant Principal at Hope High School. Prior to working in schools, she worked in human services for 15 years. During that time, she supported youth and adults with disabilities across many settings, including group homes, shelters, hospitals, and day programs. In addition, for several years, she and her husband served as foster parents for youth with disabilities.

Gail earned her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, English and her Master's in Educational Leadership from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island.

With a strong background in overseeing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for students, coordinating assessments, and leading initiatives like Understanding by Design curriculum mapping and Proficiency-Based Graduation Requirements, Ms. DeCecco is well-equipped to enhance our school community. Her commitment to fostering inclusive educational environments and her expertise in data analysis, school law, and instructional leadership will be invaluable as we continue to strive for excellence

All of Ms. DeCecco's experiences have contributed to her personalized approach to education. Above all, she believes that serving in the field of education is a privilege, and she feels honored to be entrusted with the role of Principal.
