John Kavanagh

John Kavanagh is an Assistant Principal at Central High School. He has spent his entire educational career working in the Providence Public School District (PPSD) at Central. John has been an educator for the past 23 years, including 19 years as a Special Education Teacher in a Self-Contained Classroom, three years as the Dean of Students, and one year as the Director of Building Operations. He has been the Director of Summer Learning for the past three years, and has been head boys’ basketball coach at Classical High School for the past 16 years. This will be his first year as Assistant Principal.

John earned his Bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. He received his Masters of Education in Special Education from College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont. He also completed the National Institute for School Leadership Program (NISL) in 2023.

Francesca Salvadore

Francesca Salvadore is an Assistant Principal at Central High School. She has worked her entire educational career in the Providence Public School District (PPSD). Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, Francesca was a Math and Italian Teacher, a Secondary Math Instructional Specialist, and, most recently, a Math Coach at Central. This will be her second year as Assistant Principal.

Francesca is a product of PPSD. She is a multilingual learner and speaks fluent Italian and conversational Spanish. Francesca earned her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education, Mathematics, and Italian Language from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. She received her Master's in English as a Second Language and Cross-Cultural Studies from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Francesca earned her Rhode Island Certification in Administration/Educational Leadership through the Principal Residency Network - Center for Leadership and Educational Equity (CLEE). She also received her Doctorate in Education from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Renee Walker

Renee Walker is an Assistant Principal at Central High School. She has spent her entire educational career working in the Providence Public School District (PPSD). Of the 31 years she's worked in education, she has spent 14 years as an Assistant Principal. She was named 2022 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Rhode Island Association of School Principals (RIASP).

Renee earned her Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and Elementary/Middle Education from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. She received her Master's in Education Administration from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island.

Renee loves being the Assistant Principal at Central High School, and she loves all of her students.
