• College Board SAT Suite of Assessments

The redesigned SAT Suite of Assessments is an integrated system made up of these tests:

    • PSAT 8/9 – administered to students in the 8th and 9th grade
    • PSAT/NMSQT – administered to students in the 10th and 11th grade
    • SAT – administered to students in the 11th and 12th grade

The College Board assessments measure the skills required for success in high school and college level coursework.  The tests measure the same skills and knowledge in ways that make sense for different grade levels, so it’s easier for students, parents, and educators to monitor student progress.  Each assessment in the SAT Suite of Assessments includes a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. The SAT also features an essay component, which some colleges will require. Questions throughout the assessments focus on skills that matter most for college readiness and success, according to the latest research.

In transitioning to the new Rhode Island State Accountability System, the PSAT/NMSQT for grades 10 and SAT for grade 11 will be used as the state test for high school students. The essay portion of the SAT will be required of all 11th grade students. These two assessments will be given during the regular school day.  For the 2017-2018 school year, the assessments for accountability will be administered on April 10 and 11, 2018.
